Kirk,

I'm assuming you are out of contact for a while given you are in the middle of the Pacific but I want to say that I'm absolutely thrilled to be able to watch your journey as you go along! Thank you for taking the time to post on here for all of us to see. I live in Michigan not far from Lake St. Claire and have spent many hours there. I dream of someday taking my wife with me on the same track you are on except that I think that I will drop the boat in the pacific side and bypass the canal. Given that we are moving to AZ this summer that shouldn't be a problem. Sigh.... but I figure we are still about 10 years from freedom to go as the kids are still in school at till then and our businesses are still new and need time to stabilize.

Until then I'll enjoy watching you live your dream until it's my time to sail away. I will say a prayer for you that the sea brings you home with plenty of wind in your sails.

I'd be interested in hearing more about how you spend your days. How do you fill the time? How many books do you have with you? Do you have a hard time with missing "normal" food? Seems like 40 lbs of home made granola would get old pretty fast lol

Look forward to your next chance to update the blog.
